Materiom is a research and innovation platform focused on reimagining the way we discover, make, and use materials. What if materials like plastics were healthy instead of harmful for the world around us? I have worked with the Materiom team to develop a compelling company vision and a refreshed brand and communications strategy.


METABOLIC

In leading the communications team at Metabolic - an Amsterdam-based organization with the ambitious mission of sustainable global systems change - I focused on elevating the team’s research, strategies and tools to help it reach the right audiences. In a heavily science- and data-driven environment, key to the role was breaking down the complexities involved in communicating about systems change and the circular economy. During my tenure, I drove the development of a new company website, produced the organization’s first impact report, and initiated an ecosystem-wide brand refresh. I also wrote/co-wrote a host of content features, together with the team’s CEO and other researchers.

TOMORROW MATTERS NOW

Tomorrow Matters Now is a management consultancy that partners with corporates on the green economy, developing responsible, impactful ways of doing business with significant environmental and social effects. Working with the TOMA-Now team, I carried out project research and stakeholder engagement, facilitated workshops, developed case studies, and crafted proposals for forward-thinking green economy projects.


TABLE MOUNTAIN FUND

Production of online content features for The Table Mountain Fund — launched by Sir Edmund Hilary, a capital Conservation Trust Fund that develops and funds projects to protect and restore the world-famous natural heritage of the Cape, known as the Fynbos.


 

WWF

Creation of online content for the WWF Desert Challenge: an adventurous endurance event in the remote wilderness region of the Richtersveld that aims to reconnect people to the wilderness and raise funds in support of WWF’s conservation work in South Africa and Namibia.


 

PETCO

As part of a brand audit for PETCO (the PET Recycling Company) in South Africa, I conducted interviews with PETCO's key stakeholders in an effort to assess where the brand's current communications strengths lay, and where the strategy could be improved. Following the data-gathering phase, the project involved formulation of a report, summarising key findings and recommendations that would inform PETCO's brand and communications strategy moving forward. 


 

WOOLWORTHS

South African retailer, Woolworths, has a vision to be one of the world’s most responsible retailers. While fulfilling a contract as Digital Account Director for the organization, I worked with the Marketing and Good Business Journey teams on strategising and developing EarthCred, a social-media based campaign aimed at encouraging sustainable consumer behaviour. Working on this and a range of other 360-degree campaigns, I developed key project management skills, integrating with numerous channel stakeholders as well above-the-line and digital media agencies. 


 

GETAWAY MAGAZINE

Production of creative travel features for well-known South African publication, Getaway Magazine.


HIGH TEA WITH ELEPHANTS

As co-founder of High Tea with Elephants, I developed a content strategy for the site, producing a range of content features, mostly about projects and initiatives focused on community upliftment and wildlife conservation.
